Join our team as a STEM Instructor

Are you passionate about teaching STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and inspiring the next generation? The Brain Workout Academy is seeking a dedicated STEM instructor to join our team as an independent contractor (1099). In this role, you will deliver our engaging STEM curriculum to elementary and middle school students in after-school programs throughout Palm Beach, FL. Typical hours are between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM, with additional morning sessions available during summer break.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver engaging in-person STEM lessons to groups of students in grades 3-8, in accordance with the Brain Workout Academy curriculum.

  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation and fosters a love for STEM.

  • Drive with own car to sites around Palm Beach county to deliver the sessions.

  • Use own laptop for sessions’ presentations.

  • Participate in paid training as required.

  • Record student attendance during sessions.

  • Capture pictures depicting children engagement.

  • Collect consent forms from parents.

  • Keep materials and supplies for use during the sessions and collect them back at the end of each session.

 

Who You Are:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, mathematics, STEM education, or related field.

  • Have proven experience teaching the specific subject area.

  • People person, outgoing, energetic and passionate about engaging children in STEM learning.

  • Leader, have patience, care and empathy towards disadvantaged students and know to create an inclusive learning environment.

  • Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • Able to react positively to rapidly changing circumstances.

  • Comfortable teaching and leading groups, up to 25 students at a time.

  • Have a valid driver license.

  • Have access to a car.

  • Have strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Available to work between 3:00pm - 5:30 pm.

  • Must go through background check.

 

Job Type: Contract (Independent Contractor - 1099)

Salary: $50.00 per hour + mileage

Expected work load: 2 – 8 hour a week during the school year; more during the summer.
